Warzone stops working on PS4 and Xbox One on 6 November — Tourney Time Network

When does Warzone stop working on PS4 and Xbox One?

Warzone stops being playable on PS4 and Xbox One when Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 launches on Friday 6 November 2026. As of 1 November, that’s 5 days away.

Activision’s support FAQ says last-gen Warzone “will be available to play through the end of Season 06 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7”, and that from Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 it “will no longer be available to play on PlayStation 4 and XBOX One”. Infinity Ward’s roadmap puts Season 1 on 6 November, so that’s the day Black Ops 7 Season 06 ends.

No exact time has been announced yet. Recent seasons have gone live at 9am PT (5pm UK), so last-gen Warzone will probably shut off around then, but that’s our estimate, not Activision’s. Our Season 1 countdown will show the confirmed time once Call of Duty posts it.

The reason is simple. Modern Warfare 4 isn’t coming to PS4 or Xbox One, and Warzone moves onto MW4 content and progression from Season 1. Warzone carries on for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC players.

How the shutdown has rolled out

Activision has been switching last-gen Warzone off in stages since the summer:

DateWhat changed on PS4 and Xbox One
4 June 2026Removed from the PlayStation and Xbox stores, so no new downloads
25 June 2026In-game store removed, and the last day to spend COD Points in it
Fri 6 November 2026Warzone no longer playable

If Warzone was already in your console library, Activision says you can still install it and play until the end of Season 06. The free Battle Pass tiers stayed in the game too, so you could keep unlocking those.

What happens to your progress, COD Points and skins

  • Your progression carries over. Activision says your “full progression and content purchased with COD Points will carry over to any supported platform”, as long as you use the same Activision account.
  • Unspent COD Points stay in the same console family. COD Points are tied to your platform account. Activision says leftover points can be redeemed on the current-gen console in the same family, so PS4 points move to PS5 and Xbox One points move to Xbox Series X|S. They don’t follow you to PC or to the other console brand.
  • Real-money purchases mostly stay with your platform account. Activision says most content bought with local currency is tied to your PlayStation or Xbox account, including content from other Call of Duty games, which stays in those games.

If you’re upgrading, check before Friday that your PS4 or Xbox One profile is linked to the Activision account you’ll use on the new machine. Linked progression is what carries over.

What still works on last-gen

Every other Call of Duty game stays playable. Activision says “all other Call of Duty titles that were originally released on PlayStation 4 and XBOX One will remain available to play”. The change only applies to Warzone.

Sources we check

We take dates and rules from Activision and Call of Duty first: the Warzone platform update FAQ and Infinity Ward’s Season 1 roadmap. Then we check them against independent reporting from Kotaku and Video Games Chronicle. We’ll update this page when Call of Duty confirms the Season 1 start time.
