Warzone Stim nerf makes late gas plays much harder
By TourneyTime ·
The short version
Warzone Season 4 Reloaded is a direct hit to endgame gas plays. In the official Season 04 Reloaded patch notes, Raven Software says Stims now regenerate 40% less health while you are inside the gas, and players can no longer interact with Supply Boxes that are considered deep in the gas (Call of Duty patch notes). Dexerto also flagged the same change as a major nerf to Stim-heavy gas play and late-zone resource hoarding (Dexerto).
That means the classic late-game plan — sit deep outside the circle, chain Stims, loot boxes, and wait for everyone else to fall — is now much less reliable.
What changed
| Change | Season 4 Reloaded impact |
|---|---|
| Stim healing in gas | Reduced by 40% while inside the gas |
| Supply Boxes in gas | Cannot be opened once they are deep in the gas |
| Deep-gas threshold | Circle 1: 40m; Circle 2: 30m; Circle 3 onwards: 25m |
Raven’s explanation is clear: Stims were letting players survive outside the playable area for too long and were weakening intended circle pressure. Supply Boxes were also rewarding players for staying out of bounds, especially when they could refresh equipment or find more resources deep in the gas.
What it means in actual matches
The practical effect is simple: gas is still a rotation tool, but it is no longer a safe backup plan. You can still dip into it to reposition, wrap a team, or escape a bad angle. What is harder now is using the gas as your main win condition.
Expect three changes in late circles:
- Fewer long Stim chains, because each Stim does less work while you are taking gas damage.
- Less deep-gas looting, because Supply Boxes stop being available once they pass the dynamic threshold.
- More pressure to rotate earlier, especially from Circle 3 onwards when the deep-gas distance tightens to 25m.
The new rule of thumb
If you are planning a gas play after this patch, treat it as a short tactical move, not a full endgame strategy. Carrying a Stim can still save a rotation, but relying on multiple Stims plus box resets is now much shakier.
For squads, the safer adjustment is to prioritise power positions and safe-zone timing earlier. The update does not remove creative gas routes, but it does punish teams that try to live outside the playable area for too long.

FAQ
Did Stims get worse everywhere?
The confirmed nerf is specifically while inside the gas. The patch notes frame the change around stopping extended gas survival while preserving Stim utility during combat.
What counts as deep in the gas?
The threshold now scales by circle: 40m in Circle 1, 30m in Circle 2, and 25m from Circle 3 onwards.
Should you stop carrying Stims?
Not necessarily. They still have combat and emergency rotation value. The difference is that they are much weaker as a late-game gas-stalling strategy.
