All Modern Warfare 4 Mastery Camos revealed so far
By TourneyTime ·
The short version
Modern Warfare 4 has three Mastery Camos in each of Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone — nine in total — plus three more tied to Prestige, which is why you will see the figure quoted as either nine or twelve depending on where you read it (Call of Duty, Insider Gaming, Destructoid).
The bigger structural change: the camo grind is shared across modes. You progress a weapon’s Camo Track wherever you play, and finishing it unlocks that weapon’s Mastery Camo Challenges. No more picking a mode purely to farm camos.
One honest caveat up front: the actual unlock requirements have not been published. The names are out. The challenge list is not.
All 12 reported Mastery Camos
| Mode | Mastery Camo |
|---|---|
| Multiplayer | Mercurial Drift |
| Multiplayer | Polyatomic Reforged |
| Multiplayer | Orion Reforged |
| DMZ | Chiral |
| DMZ | Ripple Tide |
| DMZ | Helio |
| Warzone | Parallax |
| Warzone | Damascus Reforged |
| Warzone | Empyros |
| Prestige | Pyroclast |
| Prestige | Pyroclast Verge |
| Prestige | Pyroclast Scatter |
Insider Gaming and Destructoid published identical name lists from the 21 August reveal, independently of each other — that is why we are running them. But neither links a first-party page listing the names, so treat this table as reported and consistent, not first-party confirmed. If a name shifts before launch, this is where it would happen.
The count difference between outlets is not a contradiction: Destructoid counts the nine mode camos, Insider Gaming counts twelve by including the three Prestige camos. Call of Duty’s own multiplayer blog supports both readings — three per mode across the three experiences, with a separate set of Mastery Camos available through Prestige.
What Call of Duty has actually confirmed
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| Three Mastery Camos per mode, nine total | Official |
| Three further Mastery Camos via Prestige | Official |
| Camo progress shared across all three modes | Official |
| The twelve camo names above | Reported by two desks, not first-party linked |
| Per-weapon challenge requirements | Not published |
| Kill counts, headshot targets, thresholds | Not published |
If a site is already telling you “get 100 headshots for Orion Reforged”, it is guessing. Nobody has those numbers yet.
Why the shared grind changes your plan
In previous entries, camo grinding meant choosing your farm — a specific multiplayer playlist, a specific mode, sometimes a specific map. Modern Warfare 4’s Camo Track runs across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone together, so time in any of them feeds the same weapon.
For a Warzone-first player that is straightforwardly good news: your normal sessions now count toward base camos instead of forcing you into six-minute multiplayer matches. The Mastery tier is where mode-specific work starts, because each mode has its own three camos to chase.
What to do before launch
Modern Warfare 4 launches on 23 October (Activision). Until then there is genuinely nothing to grind — beta progress is not the Camo Track, and the challenge list is not public.
The useful prep is deciding which mode’s Mastery set you actually want. If it is Warzone’s Parallax, Damascus Reforged and Empyros, plan around Warzone time rather than spreading yourself across three modes and finishing none of them.
Sources we check
Call of Duty’s official Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer blog is the anchor for the camo structure: three Mastery Camos per mode, nine across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, a shared camo grind, and a further three Mastery Camos tied to Prestige. Insider Gaming and Destructoid independently published the same twelve camo names from the 21 August reveal, which is why we list them — but we are flagging them as reported rather than first-party confirmed, and we are not publishing any unlock requirement until Call of Duty details the challenges. We will update this page when it does.
